There are three objectives in this thesis. It sets out to reveal, firstly, the implementation of utilizing iPad in teaching EFL reading comprehension at AMIK/STMIK Raharja Cikokol Tangerang, secondly, the benefits gained by teachers and students in implementing it, and thirdly the challenges faced by them when employing it.
This research is a case study research which involves qualitative data collecting techniques such as observations, interviews, and documents examination. These instruments were given to 32 participants: one is the researcher as a teacher, the main participant observer and one of her co-worker as non-participant observer as well as 30 students in a class. It conducted from April 15 to June 1, 2014.
Data analysis of this research was described from those collecting data techniques. The relevant data were analyzed using the criteria constructed, while the irrelevant data were omitted and arranged into systematic summaries.
Result of this research shows that iPad had already altered the teaching and learning experience of teachers and students. The implementation of utilizing iPad in teaching EFL reading comprehension gives a new respective teaching EFL reading comprehension and acknowledges the benefits gained; think that by it can assist teacher and students. The iPad provides appropriate applications for the teaching such as iBooks, Speak Selection, KamusPro, and iMovie. They also can help the students to read the EFL text in different and pleasant way. Moreover, challenges faced, consider that teacher using this model should be mastered all matters relating to applications used in the iPad. And she must also have enough time to explain them clearly to the students when they encounter problems. Another is when they uploaded iMovie video presentation, most students complained about Wifi or bad internet connection.
