The objectives of this research are to investigate wherther: 1) there is significance difference between students who are treated by using task-based learning in think-pair-share, those who are treated by using task-based learning in buzz group, and those who are treated by using task-based learning in fishbowl group on students' speaking skill, 2) there is significance difference between dependent and independent students on their speaking skill, 3) the there is a significant interaction between task-based learning implemented in three different groups and students cognitive learning style on speaking skill. The research was conducted at coducted in SMP Gunung Jati Tangerang which is located in Jl. Prapat Raya Kav 2 Perumnas 2 Karawaci Tangerang for six months. The writer focused on the eighth grade students because those students had difficulties to improve their speaking skill. This research belongs to 3 x 2 factorial design implemented. Cluster random and purposive samplings were employed in selecting the population becomes the sample of research and purposive sample was determine whether the students belong to field-dependence or field-independence. The respondents investigated were 76 students then decreased became 10 dependent students and 10 independent students from three classes. There were two instruments used in this research: speaking performance test and questionnaire. Speaking performance was used to measure students' speaking skill and questionnaire was used to identify whether the students are field-dependence or independence. Then the data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA.
