This classroom action research aims to investigate the implementation of
Learning Management System “Edmodo” to Improve Students’ Vocabulary
Mastery by Mean of Writing Project at Grade XII Students of science program at
first semester academic year 2014/2015. In this research, the edmodo group was created by the teacher and all students joined the edmodo group. The group was used as the place for students to share and post the assignment on the teacher assignment post. The assignment were assigned as homework, so that they could do and posted their assignments at anytime and anywhere. There were two cycles in this research and there were two final assignments which were used as the criteria of success in this research. Although the assessments through the writing project, the research still emphasized on vocabulary aspects. The criteria of success in this research were used Jacobs et’ al’s. rubric and minimum passing grade applied in the school. The research findings shows that the students were pleased, feel
comfortable and freer with the implementation of edmodo as medium to improve
their vocabulary mastery, since they were able to do their assignment anytime and
anywhere. Based on the assessment within first cycle there were 24 or 67% who
passed the passing grade of writing project and there were 18 or 50% of students
who passed the passing grade for vocabulary aspects. And second cycle there
were 29 or 81% of students who passed the passing grade for writing project and
there were 27 or 75% of students were passed the passing grade for the
vocabulary aspect. Compared to first cycle there were improvements of five
students who passed the passing grade for writing assignment and nine students
who passed the passing grade for vocabulary aspect.
