This study is attempted to implement Elevator Pitch technique in speaking
class for the third semester students of English Department, Pamulang University.
The objective of this study is to investigate and to analyze how Elevator Pitch
technique is implemented to enhance students speaking ability.
The research was conducted at the third semester students of English
Department, Faculty of Letters – University of Pamulang, Banten from September
2013 to February 2014. The research employed the qualitative research design and
refers to the Research and Development (R & D) method. The research focused
on implementing Elevator Pitch technique in speaking class activities and the
learning process in the classroom. The data were collected by using triangulation
of data collection methods involving observation, interview, questionnaire and
documentation.
Based on the data collected, it can be concluded that the implementation of
Elevator Pitch in teaching and learning speaking is helpful and easy to conduct.
Lacking of language practice made students unable to produce a language fluently
and unable to express ideas spontaneously. Therefore, this technique can give a
good contribution to the fluently of speaking for the students of English
department. Referring to the students’ responses on the implementation of
Elevator Pitch technique in speaking class, it was found that all students
responded to this technique positively and enthusiastically. The Elevator Pitch
technique can help them to produce the spoken language, especially speech or
monologue and the technique used are easy and simple to conduct.
