The purpose of this study was to investigate the combination of students' self-esteem and students' motivation significantly explains their English speaking proficieney, both separately and simultaneously. A qualitative analysis that covers descriptive statistics; mode, median, range, mean, standard deviation, variance, and the distribution frequency in histogram, and inferential analysis; correlation partial and multiple regression were conducted to answer the questions proposed in the study. The respondents of this study were the seventh semester students of Islamic Study Faculty, University of Muhammadiyah Prof.DR.HAMKA, Jakarta in Academic year 2013-2014. From the total population 150 students, 38 students were chosen as sample based on cluster random sampling. In collecting the data, the researcher employed test and questionnaires as research instruments conducted from May 2 to 26, 2014.
