The purpose of this research is to know the effect of using letterland and
game on students’ vocabulary mastery. This research has many advantages to
improving the method in teaching and learning English generally and vocabulary
mastery especially.

Sixty students of the fourth grade at SD Bina Putra Sepatan timur
Tangerang is as sample in this study. The sixty students were divided into two
groups, thirty students were assigned as letterland group and the other thirty
students were the game group. Both of the group letterland and game took pretest
and posttest. Kind of the test was used vocabulary multiple choice. The t-test was
applied to find the differences between the mean scores of the two sets of the
tests. The conclusion is supported by calculation of t-test, it can be seen that the
mean of letterland class is 77.0667 and game class is 61.0667. It can be concluded
that the letterland class has a greater effect than game class.
