This study involved the writing lesson of the tenth grade students at SMK
(Vocational High School) YMIK In Jakarta in the academic year 2013/2014. It was
conducted in order to improve their skill in writing argumentative paragraph through
process approach, because they were observed to have problem in term of completeness, topic sentence, unity, coherence, diction, grammar and mechanics within their paragraphs. In implementing the study, a collaborative action research design was selected which covered the stages of reconnaissance, planning, implementing, and monitoring the action, and reflection. The results of the study showed that the students’ skill in writing argumentative paragraphs could be improved through the developed model of process approach that encompasses the stages of prewriting, planning, drafting, revising, writing, and evaluating. Besides, it is also discovered that the students are happy and participated actively to the implementation of process approach.
