The purpose of this experimental study is to investigate: (1) whether there is any significant difference of students' vocabulary mastery gained by the students taught using total physical response (TPR); (2) whether three is any significant difference of students' vocabulary mastery gained by the students taught using group discussion; (3) whether there is any significant difference of students' vocabulary mastery gained by the students taught using total physical response (TPR) and the ones taught using group discussion. This study was conducted at Al-Azhar Islamic Primary School 17 Bintaro. the samples of this study were from two classes of the second grade students of academic year 2011/2012 as experimental group. There were totally 68 students out of 136 students involved in this study. the first experimental group was taught using total physical response (TPR) and the second experimental group was taught using group discussion technique. the instrument of this study was a multiple choice vocabulary mastery test to measure the level of students' vocabulary knowledge that learners have reached. the study used the data from the pre-test and the post-test result of vocabulary mastery test. Furthermore, the data were analyzed using dependent t-test to find out whether there was any significant difference between pre-test and post-test of the student's vocabulary mastery ini each experimental group. The paired sample independent t-test used to investigate whether there was any significant difference on students' vocabulary mastery between two experimental group.
