This study aims to investigate the effect of short story and song on students listening skill at LKP Mawar Melati Cilegon Banten. The participants of this study were the BEC grade students who consisted of junior high school students in period July 2012 to December 2012. From 146 students of total population there were 60 students who were selected to be the sample of this research by using sampling technique. The sample consisted of 30 students who were into the experimental group and comparison group. To collect the data, the study used the same instruments of listening comprehension test. Both of groups were treated using different learning media, the short story and song as teaching media improve the students' listening skill. Before doing normality and homogeneity of the data we measured by using spearman brown formula to see whether the data normally distributed. In order to answer the research questions and to test the hypothesis, the researcher used dependent t-test and independent t-test for both data from dependent variables and independent variables.
