The purpose of this study to prove whether there is correlation of language components (grammar and vocabulary) mastery and students' background knowledge to their reading comprehension at Islamic senior high school of Mathla'ul Falah Lempuyang Serang Banten. The researcher used the quantitative method in this study through simple and multiple regressions. The data were collected through language components mastery test, background knowledge test, and reading comprehension test. The test were taken by 40 students of XI grades at Islamic senior high school of Matla'ul Falah Lempuyang Serang Banten consisting of 20 female and 20 male students
