In this research, the writer investigated whether there is any correlation between students' vocabulary mastery and cognitive style toward their reading comprehension. the writer found that the students had difficulties to comprehend the reading text. Then, the writer analyzed that they have lack of vocabulary mastery and different cognitive style. This research was held in SMP Remaja Pluit Jakarta. To collect the data, the researcher took 30 from 120 students of seventh grades by using random sampling techniques or numbering. Questionnaire and test are used to collect the data quantitatively. A questionnaire of cognitive style is used to measure their cognitive style or way of students' thinking in solving the problem. There are two test, vocabulary test is used to measure students' vocabulary mastery and reading comprehension test is used to measure students' comprehension achievement. Then, the data of vocabulary mastery, reading comprehension, and cognitive learning style have been collected to analyze the correlation between them
