students often tend to question the grading system given by their lecturers in the oral presentation skills assignment. Different with a multiple choice, true or false and matching questions, oral presentation skills seem have no exact limitation for grades. This problem leads to the students' reluctance and irresponsibility towards learning. Therefore, self-and peer-assessment method is raised to trigger the students' motivation in doing the oral presentation skills. Researchers on assessment of oral presentation skills have shown that reliability of grades can be obtained if self, peer and lecturer assessment were used. This research was undertaken to gauge the responds and the personality development of International Relation students in University al-Azhar Indonesian (UAI) to self and peer assessment in oral presentation skills. Students were given training session on evaluation of delivery techniques and a rehearsal of oral presentation skills which was videotaped. A set of personal approaches were implemented at the end of the exercise. The findings show that the four participants being investigated responded positively stating that the self-and peer-assessment method would give fairer grading system and had a positive attitude to the method as they felt a sense of honor for being given responsibility for their final grade contribution using portfolio and marking criteria.
