The purpose of this research is to observe the strategies used by teachers when they are teaching reading of narrative text in English as a foreign language to eight grade junior high school students. This research attempts to address the following questions: (1) what strategies used by the English teachers in teaching reading of narrative text? (2) what are the obstacles faced by the English teachers in teaching reading of narrative text in a Junior high school? (3) what are the effects of the strategies used to the students' learning?
