The study attempts to compare the students' narrative writing between those who are taught using cooperative learning and those who are taught using individual learning. It was conducted at the first grade of a Senior High School in Cilegon. This study employs an experimental study, involving 82 students as samples, it was randomly selected (41 in experimental and control group respectively). The experimental group was taught with cooperative learning method while the control group was taught with the individual learning method. The instruments used in this research are tests they were pretest and posttest in writing a narrative text given to experimental and control group, and questionnaires given to experimental group. To answer the first question, data gained from pretest and posttest is analyzed using t-test. It is to identify whether there is a significant difference between the test scores of both experimental and control group. Regarding the second question, the questionnaire data concerning students' responses towards the implementation of cooperative learning technique (in this case jigsaw model) in writing class was presented to describe their opinion about the effect of the method for their narrative writing
