The objective of this study is to find out moral values are provided in English
textbook for Junior High School published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology based on 2013 curriculum as National Education Handbook and how do the students’ perceptions of moral values in the materials of English textbook itself. The researcher used qualitative research analysis methodology and descriptive research design. This research has been conducted in SMP Muhammadiyah 8, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. In the data collection process, researcher used English textbooks published by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology from seventh grade to ninth grade students of Junior High School and interview, in order to find the information about moral values in English Textbooks. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the moral values were naturally conveyed in various ways into each feature: title of chapter,
objectives of chapter, quotes, pictures, songs, exercise instruction, passages, and examples of sentences round out the list. It implies that moral values could be ingrained in the majority of the textbook's sections. Because of this, textbooks could serve as an effective medium to advance and reinforce moral ideals among students if their author acknowledged the value of integrating moral values. It is very important to students to learn the moral values contained in the textbooks they use and other media used by their teachers in teaching English. In addition, the textbooks they use and those taught by their teachers contain moral values that are very related to everyday life so that students can learn them easily.
