Writing skill still becomes a burden for some EFL learners since a student has to master the context of writing. To understand the context, the teacher has to help his or her learners to select the critical details and delete the minor information in a particular context. Thus, the teacher has to provide the useful strategy summarizing the background to comprehend the whole meaning. Thus, the objectives of the research are to find how the GBA helps students to improve their summary writing and to find students perceive a GBA. Furthermore, this research adopted Classroom Action Research (CAR). In collecting the data, the researcher uses a test and questionnaire. The subject of the research is second grade students of IPA Islamic Senior High School Al-Azhar at Grand Wisata, Bekasi. The result of the research shows learning using GBA method showed impressive result because students had been improved in every cycle. Several students showed their summary using complete compound sentence. Thus, their sentences in summary writing can be more structured and presentable. GBA method was successful implemented in this senior high
school and by this method; students felt writing was enjoyable and easy.
