Many students have been learning English for a long time with four language skills that should be mastered. Listening as one of their needs to be taken into account in terms of applying an effective test. The purpose of the study is to know the result of the listening test using audio only and video and to find out how the students’ perception of Audio-only and visual elements in listening test video. There were two groups in this study, namely experimental and control groups. Besides, the independent t-tests were run to compare the mean of each group. This study presented a listening test with inclusion of visual elements (picture, color and movement) that are on a video. In addition, this study focused on investigating EFL students’ with regard to their perceptions of listening tests using audio and visual elements or a video. Open-ended interview questions were administered to 20 EFL students randomly. Thus, it was themed and coded. The result of this study reported mixed perception, positive and negative effects on the inclusion and exclusion of visual elements in the listening test. The positive effects of inclusion of visual elements were mostly felt by the participants. However, based on statistical data analysis, the audio only group performed better. It was indicated from the pre-test and post-test score. These findings also provide important evidence on how the EFL students perceived the effect of visual elements in the listening test.
