This paper presents an online teaching-learning experience at SMP and SMA Ibnu Hajar Boarding School, Depok. This paper targets two main objectives. First, to investigate the difficulties faced by EFL teachers in online English class . Second, to investigate the difficulties faced by students in online English class. This paper uses a descriptive qualitative method. This study uses 2 instruments: questionnaires and interviews. Response choices of the questionnaires are consisted of pre-defined options of agree and disagree. The purpose of questionnaires was to get descriptive statistic. Then the data would be interpreted by adding interview results to get in-depth data. A total of 5 English teachers and 243 students participated in the questionnaire. Meanwhile, a total of 5 English teachers and 7 students participated in the interview. The questionnaire sent via the Google Form while interviews were held via Zoom application. The results obtained related to EFL teachers’ difficulties were related to students’ participation in online class, assessing students’ ability as well as understanding, and students’ parents’ interruption. Meanwhile, the results obtained related to students’ difficulties are realated to poor internet connectivity, being less motivated/less independent in learning, feeling of inconvenience with online class environment, being bored during online class, and finding a supporting learning environment at home.
