Quizizz game-based learning has been used in any level of schools. It has to
be one of the difficulties application that EFL teachers faced. This research has aimed to investigate teachers’ challenges by using Quizizz in the online classroom at vacational and junior school. It also aimed to investigate the strategies that teachers apply in order to overcome the challenges, and the other aimed to investigate the students’ perceptions in using Quizizz in the online classroom. Besides investigating those aspects, qualitative research was employed. This research involved six English teachers, sixty students from SMK and SMP. The data were obtained through questionnaires and interviewes.
The findings indicated that the challenges in using Quizizz in the EFL online classroom were time allocation and technical issues. Moreover, the teachers believed that some strategies have been used to reduce the challenges,
such as teaching technique, ICT skill, group work, additional task, facility,
training, and motivation. On another hand the students also claimed that Quizizz gave a positive impact on their online classroom, furthermore, it also was an efficient and easy game, so students believed that Quizizz helped them to memorize the material and made them interested in learning the foreign language. Based on the findings, there were some recommendations provided for teachers. Teachers need to have more skills in the use of different strategies and application for the online classroom. Finally, Providing the teachers to join some training in order to operate Quizizz and ICT utilization is necessary to improve their ability.
