This thesis aims to explore communication strategies employed by high speaking proficiency level students. To conduct this research, qualitative descriptive approach is used. Eight students of fifth semester at Faculty of Teachers’ Training and Education of a private university in Bogor who have taken four speaking courses were rigorously selected through several procedures to become the participant of the study since it required precise purposive sampling. The researcher collected the data by using observation, questionnaire and interview to gather information about the high speaking proficiency level students speaking problems, the communication strategies mostly employed and the ways these students employ its. The data from the observation and interview were recorded and transcribed. Then, along with the questionnaire, the data were categorized.
