This research is classifield as the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method used to solve the problem of students’ speaking skill. Based on the result of a pre-observation conducted at eight grade, it was found that the speaking of the students were still low and unsatisfactory. The participants of this research were 20 students. They were consisting of 7 males and 13 females of students of eight grade at SMP Tanjung Grogol West Jakarta. In this classroom research, the researcher implements the Kemmis and Mc Taggart Action Research Model; which consist of four phases. Those were planning, action, observation and reflection. The data collection techniques in this research were speaking tests, observation, questionnaire, and interview. The interview was done for 10 students (males and females) of 20 students at the eight grade students of SMP Tanjung Grogol West Jakarta. The data collective and analysis used qualitative data which was supported by quantitative data. This research was done from the October to November 2020. The finding of the research showed that implementing teaching speaking through storytelling technique could be effective and can improved students’ speaking skill. It can be seen from the finding of students score from cycle 1 to cycle 3. The data showed the students’ speaking score was improved. The students who passed the minimum standard score (KKM) in cycle one was 45%, cycle two was 70% and in the cycle three was 85 %.
