As a multilingual country, Indonesia places English as the foreign language after mother tongue which depends on the tribes and mother tongue which is as the lingua franca and national language, Bahasa Indonesia. Several studies about English Language Teaching (ELT) process in Indonesia have been conducted to find the right solution to overcome the unsuccessfulness of this learning process. The results show that students are mostly passive. This can be influenced by the overuse of mother tongue, the lack of cultural studies, and the lack of motivation. However, some people still believe that banning mother tongue are not necessary. This view is initially caused by the anxiety of inducting foreign cultures and abandoning their own culture. Therefore, this study is aimed to prove that ELT process should be conducted by maximizing the use of the target language. Therefore, the use of mother tongue in learning activities should be limited.
