This research is a study in the field of education in the form of Classroom Action
Research on the application of the mnemonic method at Tebet 5 Muhammadiyah
High School. This study aims to improve the English vocabulary skills of class X
Muhammadiyah 5 Tebet high school students in the 2018-2019 school year by
using the mnemonic method. This study used a classroom action research design
with 2 cycles. Each cycle consists of stages of planning, action, observation and
reflection. The research subjects were grade X students of Muhammadiyah 5
Tebet High School, academic year 2018-2019, which amounted to 36 students.
The research instruments were in the form of teacher and student activity
observation sheets, english vocabulary tests, and questionnaires. The results
showed that the average English vocabulary test scores of students increased by
31.4 and the percentage of mastery learning reached the maximum percentage on
completeness criteria for values above 65.
