The objective of this research is to get the empirical evidence whether or
not there is a relationship between vocabulary mastery and self-confidence
towards their speaking ability of the eleventh grade students’ at SMAN 1
Cibarusah West Java in the 2017/2018 academic year. The research used a survey method employing correlational technique. The population of the research consists of 330 students which are divided into 9 classes. The writer took 40 students as the sample of the research. The writer used questionnaire, speaking test and self-confidence test to collect the data. To calculate the correlation between X1 variable (vocabuary mastery) X2 (selfconfidence) and Y variable (speaking ability), the writer used Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The finding of the research shows that it could be seen that p-value = 0.000169 < α = 0.05. As the consequence, work hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is relationship between vocabulary mastery and self-confidence towards their speaking ability of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 1 Cibarusah West Java in the 2017/2018 academic year.
