This research is aimed to find out whether students on the eighth grade of SMP N 1 Cikupa promoting writing skills using CALL mediated TBLT. In addition, this study is also intended to describe how the implementation of CALL mediated TBLT in improving students' writing skills. This study is categorized as the Classroom Action Research (CAR) method in which to identify and to improving students’ writing skill, in general, and in the recount text, in particular it is initiated through the interview the teacher and through the observation in the eighth grade Social class at SMPN 1 Cikupa; considered as the class whose writing test score are very low. The amount of students in that class is 36. In this Classroom Action Research, the writer implements the Kurt Lewin’s design which consists of four phases. Those are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Meanwhile, the data is derived among from the test (pretest and posttest), interview, and observation. The findings of this study were: (1) related to the test result, there was 9.86% improvement of students’ mean writing score after using CALL mediated TBLT; it gained from the pretest result, there were two students who passed the KKM. Then in the result of posttest in cycle 1, there were 11 or 30% students in the class who passed the KKM considering their mean score of the test was 63.02. Next in the result of posttest in the cycle 2, there were 23 or 63% students who passed the KKM in which their mean score of writing test derived 70.33. Then, the result of posttest in the cycle 3, there were 32 or 88% students who passed the KKM in which their mean score of writing test derived 75.08 (2) Related to the observation result showed that the students were more active and interested in learning writing activity in the classroom. Indeed, they could write and communicated as a real context. (3) Related to the interview result, it could be known that the students’ writing in term of recount text has improved and also assisted the teacher in finding the appropriate strategy in teaching writing.
