The objective of the research is to investigate: (1) whether there is positive relationship among reading habit, vocabulary mastery, and the students’ writing skill; (2) Whether there is positive correlation between reading habit and the students’ writing skill; (3) Whether there is positive relationship between vocabulary mastery and the students’ writing skill. The research was conducted at SMP Manbaul Ulum Tangerang from January to June 2017. By using Isaac and Michael table to determine the number of the sample taken from the population with 5% as the level of significant error. As the result, 68 students of seventh grade in academic year 2016/2017 were chosen randomly using simple random sampling. The method of the research was a correlational study. Two types of research instruments were used to collect data. They were tests and questionnaire. The essay was used to measure the students’ writing skill, and the vocabulary mastery test, which was in the form of multiple choice questions, was used to measure the students’ vocabulary mastery. In addition, questionnaire was used to measure the students’ reading habit. Furthermore, there were three kinds of data that had been collected, i.e. the scores of writing skill, the scores of reading habit, and the scores of vocabulary mastery. The data were analyzed by multiple regressions.
