This classroom action research is aimed to investigate the implementation of information and communication technology (ICT) media for the Rating Forming Part of Navigation Watch (RFNW) in improving standard maritime English communicative competence in accordance with the Standard of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW). This was qualitative research that was conducted in RFNW 115 class with 27 participants. The research was conducted on the fifth December up to the ninth December 2016 located in PMTC. The researcher used several instruments to collect data such as classroom and online observation, test, and interview. The results generated from ICT utilization in RFNW 115 class revealed that ICT utilization inside the classroom created positive attitude among the participants that they were more interested, excited and involved in the class. Moreover, the participants were centralized as they were the center of learning and teaching activities. The ICT utilization outside the classroom was by empowering Edmodo. The RFNW Edmodo built the participants to be independent learners. The speaking test score showed that there was significant improvement for each cycle towards the participants’ speaking skill. The success of ICT utilization research project came from the characteristics of the instructors, the participants’ factor and the ICT infrastructure condition.
