The purpose of this research was to know the effect of learning methods and emotionalin telligence toward nursing students’ speaking skill at Stikes Sentra MedikaCikarangBekasi. This research applied two learning methods simultaneously: CLT method and ALM method to improve the S1 degree of nursing students’ speaking ability at Stikes Sentra MedikaCikarangBekasi. This study also used the EI (emotional intelligence) test as the preceded test before getting the treatment during the teaching and learning process in order to explore which one of the methods would be suitable for the nursing students based on their EI test score level. This study was using qualitative analysis that covered descriptive analysis statistics (mean, median, mode, maximum, minimum, standard deviation and distribution frequency). This study was also using the non parametric way which used the Mann Whitney test was as same as T – test and Kruskall Wallis Test was as same as annova test in normal parametric which were conducted to answer the research questions. The respondents came from the first semester of S1 degree of nursing program with the amount of 103 nursing students. The sample of population was 65 nursing students which was selected by purposive random technique. Due to the collecting data, this study applied the test of speaking as the instrument test which was divided into two tests: pre test and post test. This pre test and post test have already been validated and reliabilated first before duing the treatments. The result of this study has two independent variables: CLT method and ALM method and one dependant variable: speaking ability. The data showed there was a real significant effect between learning methods and emotional intelligence toward the nursing students’ speaking ability. Nursing students with high EI score level was suitable with the CLT method to improve their speaking ability, in contrast nursing students with low EI score level was suitable with the ALM method.
