The study was written based on the ideas that come from the English curriculum of Junior High School which the students is suggested to master reading comprehension. In the teaching English teachers need to develop learning strategies to create the interesting of learning strategy especially for the improvement of the students’ reading comprehension. Furthermore in learning of reading comprehension teachers not only need to apply the right strategy, in which the teacher must know the students’ learning style. Through the discussion with the other English teachers, the writers and English teachers have difficulties how to improve the students’ reading comprehension. For this reason, the writer did this research to get more information about the influence of learning strategies and cognitive learning styles on students’ reading comprehension. There are three purposes of research are is there a significant difference between students who are taught with the discovery and learning strategies of students taught with learning strategies for direct reading thinking activity (DRTA) on students’ the reading comprehension, is there a significant difference between independent and dependent on the students’ reading comprehension and whether there was a significant interaction between learning strategies and cognitive learning styles on students’ the reading comprehension. This research was conducted the grade eight at SMP 149 that located at Cipinang Besar Selatan, Jatinegara, Jakarta. This research is a 2 x 2 factorial with two step form of sampling: sample group and aims to sample. The respondents obtained 40 samples from two classes. There are two instruments used in this study namely multiple choice and questionnaire form. Multiple choice used to measure of students’ reading comprehension and questionnaire was used to determine whether the students belong the independent or dependent. Then the data were analyzed by two-way ANOVA .
