This thesis aims to improve young learners’ vocabulary at PAUD Nusantara
Ibu Kelinci. The method used action research to get the scientifically collecting data.
The action research method includes qualitative and quantitative data. Qualitative
data include observation, interview, field note, and documentation. Whereas
quantitative data include scoring test, consist of pre-test was the test before
storytelling applied and post-test was the test after the storytelling applied in the
classroom. In action research consists of 3 cycles, in every cycle the writer does the
planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. The writer was interviewed with 6
students and asked them about storytelling activity. This research concludes that storytelling strategy can improve English vocabulary for children with the age around 5-6 years old. The improvement can be seen from the test result that teacher gave to the students and the students respond when teacher tell story. The storytelling also can improve students’ brave and creativity. The students respond when teacher tell the story was so enthusiastic. They interest to the story tell by the teacher. The students are active when the teacher tell story, they are asked some questions about the story that the teacher tell. The storytelling strategy at PAUD Nusantara Ibu Kelinci was the new strategy for the students around 5-6 years old in the kindergarten. Storytelling activity can improve students’ English vocabulary.
