The purpose of this research was to find out whether the English summative test for the seventh grade students of SMPN 168 Jakarta in had good quality in terms of the item difficulty level, item discrimination power, and the effectiveness of distracter of each test item.The method that was used in this research are quantitative and qualitative anaylis method. Quantitative analysis was used to analyze data of the difficulty level and discriminating power. This analysis was used to detect the test items whether it is good or not. Meanwhile, qualitative analysis was used to describe the quality and the weakness of the items.The population approximately consist of 210 students which were divided into 6 classes, and the writer had taken 2 classes as the respondents which were 38 students of the seventh grade students of SMPN 168 Jakarta Timur in the 2013/2014 Academic Year. The instrument that was used in this research is the summative test, the answer sheet, and the answer sheet.After analyzing the facility value, the result showed that the test contains 18 items which were medium (36%), 5 items which were difficult (10%), and 27 items which were easy. And the discriminating power, shows that the test contains 3 item which were discarded (6%), 19 items which were revised (38%), and 28 items which were accepted (56%).
