This research is aimed at discovering whether the English summative test for the twelfth grade students of the first semester at SMAN 105 East Jakarta has fulfilled the content validity or not. The research method is descriptive analysis with comparing the content of the English summative test to the content of the syllabus. The object of the research is a set of the English summative test for the twelfth grade students of the first semester.
The instruments of the research are checklist tables which arranging based on the materials and the indicators in the syllabus based on School-based Curriculum. It is used to see how many percentages the test items are studied in terms of their conformity to syllabus. The research is only focused on reading skill, its multiple choices which has 50 items. Listening, Speaking and Writing are not available in the English summative test. Therefore, the writer doesn‟t discuss those skills.
From the result of this descriptive comparative analysis data, the writer finds out that the Englih summative test is in line with the requirements of the existing syllabus based on school-based curriculum. It is proved by 64.75% of the content of the English summative test which conforms to the syllabus requirements of the school-based curriculum. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the English summative test which is administered in the first semester, twelfth grade students at SMAN 105 East Jakarta in the 2014/2015 academic year reaches a good content validity. It reaches at “Good” level for content validity criterion.
