Jakarta : The School of Teacher Training and Pedagogy of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA University, 2015. The main objective of this study was to get empirical data as the basis of determining the quality of the summative test of the second semester for the eleventh grade students at SMAN 29 Jakarta 2013/2014 Academic Year based on the quality of the items. The study applied a qualitative method based on a quantitative descriptive analysis. The descriptive quantitative analysis was used to get the facility value and discriminating power. The qualitative method was done to predict the most possible causes of why an item was weak. The population respondents were the students of the eleventh grade represented by two classes with 71 persons taken through purposive sampling. In analyzing the facility value and dicriminating power, the writer uses the precentage formula suggested by Heaton. Based on the total precentage of the qualitative items, it has been discovered that from 50 items, there have been only 64,00% (32 items) that were accepted and could be reused in the future test. The rest 36,00% (18 items) were weak. Based on the facility value, it was found that the items were not proportionally distributed. These findings lead the writer to come to a conclusion that the quality of the set of the English test has not been good.
