SITI MARLINA INTAN MARSELA, NIM : 1001065212. AN ITEM ANALYSIS OF THE ENGLISH SUMMATIVE TEST OF THE FIRST SEM ESTER OF THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMA NEGERI 46 JAKARTA IN 2014/2015 ACADEMIC YEAR. A paper; The Study Programme of English Education, The School of the Teacher Training and Education, The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. Hamka, 2015. The purpose of research was to find out the empirical evidence of how well the items of the English Summative Test of the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 46 Jakarta. The test was administered in November, 2015. The population of the research of Summative Test consisted of 40 items. The respondents of the research were the students of two classes. IPA XI 3 Class consisted of 34 students, and IPA XI 4 Class with 29 students. So there were totally 63 students as the population of respondents. From this population, the writer took out 25% (15 students) who got highest scores for the upper group, and 25% (15 students) who got the lowest scores for the lower group. From the calculation of difficulty level and the discriminating power, the writer has got the data that the English Summative Test was poor because there have been 22 items (55%) were categorized as “easy”. The moderate items were only 15, were equal (37%), while the difficult items were only 3 (8%). The composition has not been appropriate. Generally the test was poor because there have been 6 items (15%) categorized rejected and 15 items (38%) categorized poor. So, the amounts of low quality were totally 53% while the accepted items were only 47%. Based on the empirical evidence above, the writer concluded that English Summative Test which was administered in SMA Negeri 46 Jakarta can be categorized as a unqualified test.
