AnItem Analysis of the English Summative Test for the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 29 Jakarta in the Second Semester of the 2013/2014 Academic Year.A Paper, Jakarta, The English Programme of English Education The School of Teachers Training and Education The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka, 2015. The objective of the study is to answer the question of the study whether or not the English Summative Test for the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 29 Jakarta in the Second Semester can be catagorized as a good test based on the difficulty level, and the discriminating power. The study was conducted at SMAN 29 South Jakarta, on March 25th 2015.The test of this study consisted of 55 multiple choice items. The respondents of this study were 78 students divided into 25% of upper, 50% medium, and 25% of lower group. In this matter, the writer did not use the medium group, which was about 50% because the item analysis needed only the upper group and the lower group as a sample analysis.The writer used J.B.Heaton formulation as a reference to analyze the difficulty level and discriminationg power of the items. After analyzing the difficulty level, there were 33 items categorized in the easy level, 16 items categorized in the medium level and 6 items categorized in the difficult level. In terms of the discriminating power, it was discovered from 55 multiple choice items. There were 26 items categorized to be accepted, 23 items should be revised, and 6 items should be discarded. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that the English Summative Test for the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 29 South Jakarta in the Second Semester of the 2013/2014 Academic Year has not fulfilled the criteria of a good test.
