PUTRI TIFFANI FAUZIA. NIM 1001065174. An Item Analysis of the English Summative Test of Tenth Grade Students of SMAN 29 Jakarta in the 2013/2014 Academic Year. A paper, Jakarta : The School of Teacher Training and Pedagogy of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. HAMKA University, 2015. The main objective of this research were: 1) to find out whether or not the English Summative test is in a good quality based on the difficulty level and discriminating power of the test items, 2) to classify which items needed to be kept, revised or discarded, 3) to find out the possible causes why the test items should be revised and made the alternative revision for each item. This research was administered at tenth grade students of SMAN 29 Jakarta. The English Summative test consist of 50 multiple choice items. For the partical purpose, the writer will simply analyze multiple choice. It can be analyzed using analysis method. The methods that are used in this research are both descriptive quantitative method and qualitative analysis. Descriptive quantitative method is used to get the facility value and discrimination power. Qualitative analysis is used in analyzing the data scores to detect the test items. The respondents of this research are the tenth grade students of SMA NEGERI 29 Jakarta. There are 2 classes which consist of 67 students. The respondents of this research were divided into 2 groups; they are upper and lower group. In analyzing the difficulty level and discriminating power, the writer uses the formula suggested by Heaton. After analyzing the difficulty level and discriminating power, it is discovered that the test items for the tenth grade students of SMAN 29 Jakarta could be said not in a good quality, because almost all the items are categorized as easy items and from 50 items, there are 21 items are kept, 25 items revised and 4 items discarded.
