of the second semester of the 2011/2012 Academic Year for the eight grade
students at SMP Mekar Murni Bekasi. PAPER, Jakarta : The Study

The objectives of the study were : 1) To find out whether item test was good
or not, 2) To identify which of the items needed to be rejected, revised, and
accepted and 3) To find out the possible causes why the item should be revised
and proposed the alternative of the revision for each item.
The research was administered at SMP MEKAR MURNI of second grand student
on the second semester of academic year 2011-2012 on June 17, 2012.
This research was kind of descriptive quantitative method. The sample of
this research were taken from three classes. Thus, the group score are divided
three groups : 27% for upper group 27% for lower group, and the middle groups
were not analised. The technique of data analysis was to find out the difficulty
level and discriminating power based on Ngalim Purwanto formula.
Based on the data analysis of this research, it shows that 23 item have
appropriate DL and DP. Nevertheless, there are 5 items that need revision and 2
items of summative test can be categories as the test items belong to good test
because there are 5 items should be revised and 2 items are rejected.
There are suggestion addressed to English test who have made test and English
Teacher as follow 1) teachers should construct a standardized test of English. 2)
Teachers should try to give another type of test are different type to find out other
ability of the student than cannot be found in multiple-choice item. 3) Teachers
must analyze the items of every test in order to find whether the item is good or
not.
