This study is aimed to find the answer of the following question “Are the
writing materials in English Today textbook for the tenth-grade students of
SMAN 3 Tangerang written by Catur Irmawan et.al in line with the school-based
curriculum (KTSP)?”
The writer used a comparative-descriptive analysis method. In this
analysis, since there is no hypothesis test, the method belongs to a kind of
qualitative method. The writer has compared the writing materials and the
objectives of teaching writing in the textbook and in the KTSP. Then the writer
presented the results of analysis descriptively.
After comparing and analyzing the data, the research found the total
number percentage of writing aspects consisting of the objectives of teaching
writing and the genres of writing which are required in the KTSP are 100%. It can
be interpreted by Arikunto’s scheme of conformity level as ‘good’ category. In
other words, the English Today textbook for the tenth-grade of SMAN 3
Tangerang written by Catur Irmawan et.al are in line with the KTSP and can be
used as a source of instructional material not only for teachers but also for
students to achieve the objective of teaching-learning.
