MUCHTAR LUTFI. An Item Analysis of the English Summative Test for the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 264 JAKARTA BARAT 2013/2014 Academic Year. A Paper, The Study Programme of English Education, The School of Teachers Training and Education University of Muhammadiyah Prof. Dr. Hamka Jakarta 2014. The research was held at SMPN 264 Jakarta Barat, on June 2014. The objective of this research is to find whether the English summative test for the seventh grade students of SMPN 264 Jakarta Barat has good quality or not by analyzing the difficulty level, the discriminating power, and the effectiveness of the distracter. In analyzing the difficulty level and the discriminating power, the writer uses the formulas which issuggested by Heaton. The analysis showed that there have been 18% test items that did not have good quality; they were 4 items (8%) that need revision and 5 items (10%) should be discarded. However, the quality of 82% of the English summative test for the seventh grade students of SMPN 264 Jakarta Barat 2013/2014 academic year could be classified well. Upon the main problem of the research, the empirical data and the analysis, the writer concludes that the English summative test for the seventh grade students of SMPN 264 Jakarta Barat 2013/2014 academic year in general is good.
