This research was conducted to find the empirical evidence of the effectiveness of practicing Role-play in the teaching of speaking skill to the eleventh grade students of MAN 2 Jakarta. This research was undertaken on August 6th, 2014 up to August 18th, 2014 at MAN 2 Jakarta. This research is an experimental research with a pre-experiment design involving 35 students as the sample of this research which is taken purposively. The data was analyzed by using t-test analysis. The result of this research analysis gained the t0 was 10,09 and the tt was 1,70. It shows that the t0 > tt which means the practicing role-play is effective in the teaching of speaking skill. It reflects obviously that practicing role-play in the teaching of speaking skill of the eleventh grade students at MAN 2 Jakarta has been effective. Thus, practicing role-play in the teaching of speaking skill is a beneficial technique for students to learn English while interacting freely and enjoying work in a group.
