DINI MUTIA. NIM: 1001065057. The Relationship between Motivation and Descriptive Writing Skill of the Seventh Grade Students of SMPN 13 Tangerang in The 2013/2014 Academic Year. A Paper. Jakarta: The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA. 2014. The objective of this research is to get the empirical evidence whether or not there is a relationship between motivation and descriptive writing skill on the seventh grade of SMPN 13 Tangerang in the 2013/2014 academic year. The method of this research is quantitative survey method. The population of this research consists of 234 students and the sample of this research was taken 36 students whom have selected by using cluster sampling. In this research, the isntruments used for getting the data are questionnaire about students‟ motivation and writing test. The score are calculated by using Pearson Product Moment Correlation. The finding of the research shows that the calculation of Pearson Product Moment is that “ rh” correlation 0.95 with df-30 in 0.05 significant level. In other words there is a relationship between motivation and descriptive writing skill at the seventh grade of SMPN 13 Tangerang in the 2013/2014 academic year.
