Polistirena adalah styrofoam yang bahan dasar styrene. Minyak atsiri kulit jeruk dapat mencairkan styrofoam serta menguraikannya tanpa pemanasan. Penelitian ini bersifat eksperimental dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui kandungan logam pada sampah styrofoam hasil penguraian dengan minyak atsiri kulit jeruk Bali dan kulit jeruk Pontianak. Kulit jeruk Bali dan kulit jeruk Pontianak sebanyak 1 kg menghasilkan minyak atsiri 500 ml dapat menguraikan 2 gram styrofoam burger dengan ukuran 2 cm x 0.1 cm. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa pengambilan minyak atsiri dengan cara distilisasi air untuk 1 kilogram kulit jeruk Bali atau kulit jeruk Pontianak menghasilkan + 500 ml minyak atsiri kulit jeruk. Waktu yang dibutuhkan untuk terurainya sampah styrofoam burger dengan ukuran 2 cm x 0.1 cm yaitu minyak atsiri kulit jeruk Bali (24 jam) sedangkan minyak atsiri kulit jeruk Pontianak (32 jam). Polystyrene is the basic material styrofoam styrene. Orange peel essential oil can melt the styrofoam and decipher without heating. This research is experimental with the intention of determine metal content on Styrofoam waste decomposition with essential oils of grapefruit peel and orange peel Pontianak. Grapefruit peel and orange peel Pontianak produce 1 kg of essential oil 500 ml can decipher 2 grams of styrofoam burger with a size of 2 cm x 0.1 cm. The result of this research showing that making essential oils in away of distilled water for kilo of grapefruit peel and orange peel Pontianak produce 500 ml of essential oils.
