This article has been prompted by the appearance in 2014 of a critical edition of Philosophie rurale, the only complete treatise of Physiocratic doctrine directed and partly written by its founder Quesnay. The article discusses briefly the book with emphasis on some little known aspects of it and reviews the new edition. An appendix relates the history of the publication of the book
