ANWAR HIDAYAT. NIM: 0801065019. The Relationship between Parents? Socio-economic Status and Students? English Reading Skill at the eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 95 Jakarta Barat in the 2012?2013 Academic Year. A paper. Jakarta: The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA, 2012. The objective of this research was to get the empirical evidence whether there is a relationship or not between parents? socio-economic status and students? English reading skill at the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 95 Jakarta Barat in the 2012- 2013 academic year. The method of the research used was a quantitative survey method. The population of the research consists of 320 students and the sample of the research was taken 8% from the population, consists of 40 students whom have selected randomly. The instruments used for getting the data were questionnaire about parents? socio-economic status and English reading tests. The scores of the students were calculated by using Pearson?s Product Moment Correlation. The calculation of Pearson?s Product Moment results the ?ro? correlation 0.95. With df= 38 in 0.05 significant standard got ?rt? table 0.312. In other word, r observe is higher than r table (ro > rt). As the consequence, work hypothesis was accepted and null hypothesis was rejected. So, it can be concluded that there is relationship between parents? socio-economic status and students? English reading skill on the eleventh grade students of SMA Negeri 95 Jakarta in the 2012- 2013 academic year.
