The aim of this research was to find out whether teaching students through crossword puzzle can improve their vocabulary achievement in the fifth grade of SD Negeri Sawah 2 South Tangerang. The population of this research was 30 students from the fifth grade of SD Negeri Sawah 2 South Tangerang from one class. Sample of this reseach was 30 students. This research used an experimental method by taken one class. The vocabulary test consist of 25 questions which were divided into one item types, that was multiple choice. The data collected in this research analyzed by usig t-test. According to the result of statistical calculation, it was obtained the value of t-observed was 1.95 andthe value of t-table from df 30 on significant level 0.161. It means that null hypothesis (Ho) which stated there was no significance difference between the students? achievement taught by using crossword puzzle and without crossword puzzle was rejected. In other words the alternative hyphotesis (Hi) which stated that there was a significance difference between the students? achivement taught by using crossword puzzle and without crossworg puzzle was accepted. Based on the finding of this study, it can be concluded that teaching vocabulary by using crossword puzzle technique was improve. By using crossword puzzle, students felt more interesting and enjoy doing activities in the class. It also can draw student?s enthusiasm which gives a good effect to the student?s achievement.
