A Paper; Jakarta, English Language Teaching Programme, The Department of Language and Art Education, The School of Teacher Training and Education, The University of Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA, 2011. The aim of the study is to investigate whether or not Jigsaw technique is effective in improving students? reading comprehension.The study used quasi-experimental design with pre-test and post-test design. The study involved two classes of the eleventh grade students of SMAN 111 North Jakarta as the sample. The writer takes 33 students for samples in each classes. The writer hold the research for eight times and which begun with pre-test and ended with post-test. The findings indicated that the Jigsaw technique treatment was significantly effective in improving students` reading of narrative text. As indicated by a statistical value of post-test score of experimental class, the tobserved is 5.502 and the value on the degree of significance is 0.05% and ttable is 1.998. It means that t0 is bigger than tt. It gives evidence to reject the H- null hypothesis. In reference to the result of the study, the conclusion is drawn that Jigsaw technique significantly improves students? reading narrative text to the eleventh grade students of SMAN 111 North Jakarta in 2011/2012 Academic Year.
