Nunung Iswati. NIM: 0601067006. Readability Analysis of Reading Texts in English 2 Textbook for the Second Grade Students of SMP PGRI Serpong, Tangerang Selatan in the 2011-2012 Academic Year. The objective of this research is to analyze and to determine the readability level of the reading texts in English 2 textbook used by the students of the 2nd year of SMP PGRI Serpong, Tangerang Selatan in the 2011/2012 academic year. The method of this research was a survey which used close tests as the instrument for collecting the data. There have been 20 reading texts and 5 of them are used as samples which were selected based on the reading themes. The respondents were 38 students out of 76 students from two classes of the second grade students of SMP PGRI Serpong Tangerang Selatan. It was measured that the average score of the readability was 81,01%. It has become the main finding of this research that the reading texts in English 2 textbook used by the second students of SMP PGRI Serpong, Tangerang Selatan have been in independent level. It means that the text book was not suitable to be used for teaching reading because was too easy for the students. The writer concludes that the level of readability in English reading textbook English 2 that is written by Yohan Turang and it published by CV Buana Raya as teaching reading material for the second grade students of SMP PGRI Serpong on the independent level of readability. So the benefit of this research could know the level of readability in English 2 textbook for the second grade students of SMP PGRI Serpong, Tangerang Selatan.
