This research is done to find out whether the English Summative test items for the eight grade students at SMPN 212 Jl. Benda Atas Jeruk Purut, Jakarta Selatan in 2007/2008 academic year have good quality in terms of difficulty level, discriminating power and effectiveness of distracters. Based on the statement above, the writer feels necessary to analyze the test administered to the eight grade students of that school. The writer limits this research for finding out the difficulty level, discriminating power and effectiveness of distracters. The samples of this research are taken from 2 classes. Then, the samples are divided into 2 groups. 27% for the upper group and 27% for the lower group. The analysis of data is counted by using DL and DP calculation formula. Based on the data analysis of the research, there are 5 items (10%) that need revision, and 1 item (2%) discharded because these items do not have appropriate difficulty level and discriminating power. 1 item From the data, it can be stated the English Summative test for the eight grade students at SMPN 212 Benda Atas Jeruk Purut, Jakarta Selatan In 2007/2008 academic year is good .
