This study was aimed to find out whether English Try-Out test is reliable as a predictor of students? success and its effectiveness as a drilling instrument to face a final examination for the second semester students of the 3rd year of IPA program of SMA 70 Jakarta, 2006/2007 academy year. This research was carried out in November to December 2007 in SMA 70 Jakarta. The objects of the research were English Try-Out and Final Examination test. This research is a quantitative analysis. The writer analyses and maps both of the tests. The result of the research were as follow: The correlation coefficient between both variables are 0.53 by using Analysis Regression and Pearson?s Product Moment Correlation and 23.12 by using analysis of t-Test. The conclusion of the research are ?English Try-Out test are reliable as a predictor of students? success and effective as a drilling instrument to face a final examination for the second semester students of the 3rd year of IPA program of SMA 70 Jakarta, 2006/2007 academy year.? The result of this research are hoped to be useful to the Indonesian Government, school, students, and the writer him self, to increase his knowledge.
