 Abstrak
The aim of the research was to find out whether teaching listening using song is more effective than teaching listening without song. The writer used a quasi experiment. The population of the research was 58 students of the tenth grade. The sample of the research was 50 students. From the findings of the research, the writer come to a conclusion that the implementation of teaching listening using song got the average of 68.4, and teaching listening without using song got the average of 61.2. The result of the experiment shows that there is effectiveness of using song in improving students? listening ability. (s= 8.84: to = 2.93 and tt: 1.67, and alpha 0.05). In other word, using song has significant influence to improve students? listening ability as songs can make students learn more easily and provide them with enjoyable situation of learning listening. Accordingly, this study suggests the use of songs for the teaching of listening to students.
